ANT+ enabled devices make it easy to view and track your activities and physiological stats.
Beats per minute (BPM)
If your heart rate is high, this means your heart is working harder and your blood is circulating at a faster pace.
The data tells you how healthy and efficient your heart is for resting and recovering
Recreational and serious athletes, anyone for personal health monitoring
A heart rate monitor is a body-worn device that allows the user to measure heart rate in real-time. Most heart rate monitors are worn around the chest and transmit heart rate data to a display device such as a watch, cell phone, fitness equipment or activity monitor. Other types of monitors such as finger sensors, earlobe sensors, or the hand contact sensors on fitness equipment may also use this device profile to transmit heart rate data.
Watts
The more power you can produce and sustain the better chance you have of winning a race.
Cycling
Serious
An ANT+ Bike Power Sensor or Crank Torque Frequency Monitor is mounted on the pedal or wheel of a bicycle allowing the cyclist to calculate power output, which is the force required to move the bike forward measured in Watts. The power meter transmits the information to a display device that can be a bike mounted display unit, watch, cell phone, piece of fitness equipment, or other personal display device. The data can either be viewed instantly in real-time or stored and sent to a program at a later time.
Cycling
An ANT+Bike Speed Sensor is a device mounted on a bicycle that calculates the speed the bicycle is traveling. This is typically done through a magnet on the wheel spokes and a sensor on the bicycle frame that detects the magnet passing.
An ANT+ Bike Cadence Sensor measures the speed at which the user is pedaling, typically using a magnet attached to the pedal shaft and a sensor mounted on the frame.
An ANT+ Speed and Cadence combined sensor measures both of the above.
The data for bike speed and/or bike cadence is instantly transmitted to a bike computer or other device like a watch, cell phone or PDA for viewing. The data can be stored on the display and uploaded to the internet at a later time.
You can commute further by using a combination of body and electronic power.
Speed and distance (KM, MI), percentage of assistance and resistance. Battery range.
You can evaluate how far you have gone and how much time you have spent traveling.
Anyone
A motor attached to a bike that assists the rider with pedaling. The rider can control the resistance through a display unit on the bike. The display shows the battery life and estimates the distance before the battery runs out.
Convenience and training efficiency.
Control volume, track, time, stop, start, pause.
To know the current status of your media player and which track is playing.
You can match the tempo of your music to the tempo of your training.
Anyone
ANT+ Audio Control acts as either an audio player or remote control. For example, a watch could act as a remote control for a digital music player. The control device interacts with the music player to Play/Pause/Stop the music, adjust volume or change the track. The audio device constantly updates the remote control with information about the playing music such as current track number, volume level and current state of the music player (Playing, Paused, or Stopped).

Treadmill, stationary skier, climber, rowing machine, stationary bike, elliptical,
Anyone
When a user who is wearing an ANT+ device links their device to an ANT+ enabled piece of fitness equipment like a treadmill, the profile from the user is automatically imported. The fitness equipment can recognize the user profile and execute a specific workout. The workout data can then be transferred back to the device for archiving/analysis.

Measures weight, body fat, hydration levels, bone mass, body mass index.
Doctor’s office, personal and home monitoring and for people who are obese or have problems with heart failure or osteoporosis.
Anyone
ANT+ weight scales are devices primarily used to measure the weight of the user that is placed on it. The weight scale measures a user’s weight and, if the scale has access to more specific user information such as height and gender, the scale may be able to calculate user specific information like body mass index (BMI). The data collected from the weight scale can be displayed on either an ANT+ compatible personal mobile display like a watch or cell phone, a stationary display wirelessly mounted near the scale that can be accessed by multiple users or stored for use at a later date.
To know if you have a healthy and safe blood pressure.
Systolic/Diastolic pressure
Shows if you have high or low blood pressure
Anyone
Measures blood pressure, stores recorded data, and forwards this information to another device. The ANT+ blood pressure device also has the ability to handle multiple users and their associated user profiles. The collection device - which could be a cell phone, PDA or computer with internet access - will store, display and possibly track the data received from the blood pressure device. The information may be transmitted from the blood pressure device to a collection device and then over the internet to a database for storage and possibly further analysis. Ultimately, the blood pressure measurements can be stored in an application like an online health database or at a health professional’s office.
Glucose concentration in mg/dl
Diabetics, pre-diabetics, personal monitoring
Anyone
A continuous glucose monitor (or CGM system) is a handheld personal monitoring device that uses wireless technology to collect glucose readings from a small sensor inserted under the skin. The sensor measures blood glucose levels in interstitial tissue fluid.
The system can display readings every one to five minutes in real time, and can be set to sound alarms if glucose levels go out of range, allowing immediate treatment. With the use of computer software, CGM data can be displayed in charts and graphs so that trends can be identified and blood glucose levels control improved.
For safety purposes to detect if a user has fallen and may not be capable of calling for help
Movement and impact
Data is sent to emergency responders
Tells the receiver of the information that the user has fallen and may be at risk
Anyone, but primarily seniors
An ANT+ Emergency Response Alert is a body-worn sensor that measures and analyzes a user’s movements, primarily to detect if the user falls. Some fall detection devices may also be able to calculate body activity. If the device indicates the user has fallen, it transmits an alarm through a collection device with internet access such as a computer, cell phone, wrist-top computer or PDA that notifies help.
The collection device will also have the ability to receive alarms, as well as store, display and possibly track data received from the fall detection device.

To follow a desired path and for safety.
Record of your adventure.
Geocaching, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, hunting. etc.
Recreational and Serious
A personal device that allows the user to measure the distance travelled and computes the speed at which they are traveling. Unlike stride based systems, this class of sensor may use satellite positioning, radar, or other technologies to measure the distance travelled, allowing MSMs to be used for a wide range of activities with varied user motion and speed ranges.
To measure and analyze personal activity
Post activity analysis and tracking
Tracks a person’s activity
Anyone wanting to monitor their activity
Anyone
An ANT+ Activity Monitor is a body worn device that allows the user to measure their activity information. Data such as calories, steps, distance, activity level and/or the duration of measurements may be transmitted to a collector device for real-time display, or stored on the monitor for later download to a computer or other collecting device.
ANT+ enabled devices make it easy to view and track your activities and physiological stats.
Monitoring provides valuable data to help access your performance. It allows you to focus on your technique instead of which lap you’re on!
An ANT+ watch designed for swimmers can automatically tell which stroke you’re using and track your lengths, strokes, distance, pace and calories burned. In addition, it can calculate your swolf score to help you gauge your swimming efficiency.
To keep track of your swimming data for post analysis.
The data shows you your efficiency and progress.
Swimmers who are training and want to track their performance and efficiencies.
Competitive and non-competitive
ANT+ devices used by swimmers can include waterproof watches that display real-time performance data and store that data for later analysis. The user could program the device by telling it the size of the pool. The user can measure data such as length/lap count, stroke type, distance, pace, swolf score and calories burned. It can also log drills or start timed intervals without constantly monitoring the pool clock.
