Overview
Built around a 32-bit ARM® Cortex™ M0 CPU, Nordic Semiconductor's nRF51422 is the first-ever system on chip (SoC) solution to support the ANT protocol. The device now comes unprogrammed, ready for loading with Nordic's available SoftDevice protocols stacks and the developer's application. The S210 ANT 8-channel protocol stack and the S310 ANT 8-channel / Bluetooth low energy peripheral protocol stack are both available as downloadable SoftDevices from Nordic's website.
The nRF51422 incorporates a rich selection of analog and digital peripherals that can interact without CPU intervention through the Programmable Peripheral Interface (PPI) system. A flexible 31-pin GPIO mapping scheme allows I/O such as serial interfaces, PWM and quadrature demodulator to be mapped to any device pin as dictated by PCB requirements. This enables complete design flexibility associated with pin-out location and function.
The nRF51422 is available in a 48-pin 6x6 QFN package in a 256kB and 128kB flash configuration. The 256kB flash version is also available in 3.5x3.8mm 64 ball WLCSP packages.
