Is there any sample code available using UART (Asynch. comm.) for any of the MSP430s?, If so, please point me to it.

No, we do not have sample UART code available in the DevZone at this moment.

Was any sample code ever developed? Having a hard time getting it setup and sample code would be really nice...

Yes, the ANT+ embedded reference designs (available in the ANT+ Adopter Zone, registration required) do implement UART, byte and bit synchronous communication.
