Windows 8 Drivers available in Windows Update?

We are having problems with the Windows 8 drivers. The problem is that they are not found at all from Windows Update. We have several customers and some computers at our office won't get the drivers from Windows Update.

The drivers were available before from Windows Update, but after end of May this year they haven't been available. Has something happened or why can't we or our customers get them from Windows Update automatically for Windows 8?
It seems to work for Windows 7. Is there any tips or tricks we could do to make them work again?

We have seen some weird behaviour with the updates as well where it will stall at the search for windows updates for an inordinate amount of time and then finally say the driver could not be found. Is that the behaviour you are seeing?

We have seen it off and on for Windows 8 with our drivers, we will continue to look into it. Sometimes after attempting the update again, the download will succeed after a long amount of time.

Just for more information on this, how many customers and computers have you seen your issue occur with?

If it is a problem with something through windows update it will take a while to get resolved. In the meantime you can download the drivers through the downloads section: http://www.thisisant.com/resources/ant-usb2-driver-windows/ These. are currently the same drivers as those available through windows update, so feel free to distribute them to your customers as well. You will have to walk them through manually installing the drivers.

Yes, this is it.

We have dozens of customers with this issue, possibly even more. Roughly saying 50% of our customers using this particular product of ours and Win8 have experienced this.

Hi,

we use the USB2 Wireless USB Stick, and we had and have many problems concerning the drivers.
The USB Stick driver are DriverVer = 04/11/2012, 1.2.40.201

In many cases the driver has not been installed automatically by Windows Update.
In other cases the driver installed correctly by installation software, hasn't been recognized as signed by Windows 8 and 8.1 ( the driver we installed has been sent by email bytecnical guy on Thisisant team and they assured us they were signed )
In some other cases the driver has been installed, then, after some windows updates, the software cannot recognized the USB Stick anymore, or only partially.
When our software cannot communicate with the USB Stick, also ANTware II doesn't work.

Please help us to develop and use this product solving this annoing problem.

Thanks in advance for support and help.

We are familiar with cases where Windows Update is not working to install the driver correctly in some cases especially with early versions of Windows 8.

If you download the driver again from the thisisant.com downloads section, it will be signed (that should have been the version you were already sent though, if it is different someone may have made a mistake).

I do not understand enough about the situation you are describing with failing after windows updates or being 'partially' recognized. Could you describe this issue in a new thread (or one of your other current threads concerning USB drivers if it is related)?

Do these computer's ports support USB2 and/or USB3?
What do the error messages state?
What is a "partial recognition"?
Which Windows Updates affect the ANT USB?
We haven't been able to reproduce this on Windows 8.1 hardware here, are the systems fully up to date?

Hi,

the computer support USB2 and USB3.
The error message says that the driver file cannot be found.
The "partial recognition" means that the computer knows the driver specification, but cannot complete the installation due by the windows driver block.
We were not able to solve the problem with the windows update.
The system is fully updated.

To follow up on Eee's case for future reference, that specific failure was caused by an improper driver installation. More details can be found in this thread http://www.thisisant.com/forum/viewthread/4569/
