Hi ANT friends,

Is it safe to assume that RSSI values for the CC2571 or C7 modules have not been calibrated at the factory?

Like Vlado reported on an earlier thread, I'm seeing a sensitivity of approx -40 dBm from the C7 module. I've confirmed with a spectrum analyzer and a different antenna that the signal level at that point in space is actually on the order of -85 dBm at that drop-out level.

On TI's CC2420 datasheet, RSSI_OFFSET is listed as approx. -45 dB. I assume that they're using a similar front end for the CC2571 as this number seems to agree with my measurements.

We have no problem with calibrating and/or applying an offset and are simply looking for verification that this is required as it is not indicated in AN16.

Best,

Hi Scott,

On our end I can verify that an offset which is universal to all CC2571's is applied to the RSSI value sent out by ANT but we only apply this to the number we get from the chip. I cannot answer yet if TI applies any of their own calibration on the front end as well.

Cheers,
Harrison
