Hello,

i have a problem to connect my device with a mobile phone from Sony Ericson.
I use the nRF24AP2 from Nordic as master.
The telephone connects without problems with the ANT+USB-Device from DYNASTREAM.
I have tested my device with the ANT+Verification Tool and it passed all the tests.

-Verification Summary:
1) Master Device Channel Parameter Test (Pairing Test): Pass
2) Master Device Channel Period Test: Pass
3) Bidirectional Master Channel Type Test: Pass
4) Toggle Bit Test: Pass
5) Device Pages Test: Pass
6) Common Pages Test at 8070 counts (~4 Hz): Pass
7) Common Pages Test at 16140 counts (~2 Hz): Pass
8) Common Pages Test at 32280 counts (~1 Hz): Pass
9) Transmission Pattern Test: Pass
10) Reserved Fields Test: Pass
11) Rollover Test Heart Beat Event Time: Pass
12) Rollover Test Heart Beat Count: Pass
13) Rollover Test Cumulative Operating Time: Pass
14) Rollover Test Previous Heart Beat Event Time: Pass

I have seen, that my device sometimes requires 2 or 3 attempts to connect.

Pairing Test:
The duration of this test varies. It may take from a couple of seconds to a few minutes.
Please wait for the test result...
Looking for sensor device...

There was a search timeout at bin #1.

Search is retried at bin #2.
Please wait for test result...

Result: Pass!
Channel ID:
-Device number: 34
-Device type: 120
-Transmission type: 1
Device found in bin #: 2
Message type: Broadcast Messages

Does anybody have an idea what this problem could be ??

Regards

Hi there,
This is not a problem, it is normal for wireless communication. Depending on the distance, range and RF environment of the two devices, the pairing attempts may vary if the neither device is in a location where is known to attenuate radio signals significantly (such as in a enclosure, antenna design/orientation or surrounded by human body etc.). The test tool uses proxmity search in pairing, which allows channels to be acquired according to the relative distance between two devices.

According to your test result, it is not bad RF performance as the device is able to pair in bin2.

Cheers.
