Hey folks, I ran into a small issue recently while rearranging my home office and figured I'd ask around. So I had to move my desk to the other side of the room, and suddenly my Ethernet cable wasn't long enough to reach the router. I tried using a Wi-Fi connection, but the signal kept dropping—super frustrating when you're on a Zoom call. I’ve been thinking about options to extend the Ethernet without killing the speed or stability. Anyone here dealt with this kind of thing? I’m curious if there are smart ways to keep things wired without tearing up walls or making it look messy.

Totally hear you, I had a similar situation when we converted our attic into a mini home theater. The router is all the way down on the first floor, and I didn’t want to rely on Wi-Fi for streaming 4K movies. What helped me out was learning more about how far you can actually run an Ethernet cable before signal loss becomes an issue. This article explains it pretty well: ong ethernet cable. In the end, I used a combination of a high-quality Cat6 cable and a passive extender to get the job done. It's been solid ever since. Maybe check it out and see if something similar could work for you?

Just stumbled upon this thread while browsing. Not much to add personally, but it’s cool to see how many creative setups people have for home networking these days. Always thought Ethernet was kind of plug-and-play and never realized there’s so much to consider when you start moving things around. Definitely learning a thing or two just from reading along.
