(Complete ANT+ newbie alert!)

Hi!

I have what I believe is about the simplest use-case you can have: I have an iOS application (written in C#/.NET on Xamarin) and I wish to read the heart-rate from a Bluetooth/ANT+ device.

What do I need to download to get started with this and please don't tell me I need an expensive licence - at least during development?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Kind wishes - Patrick

iPhones do not have support for ANT natively. You may be able to use a product like https://www.wahoofitness.com/devices/accessories/wahoo-key-16.

Unfortunately this solution may be loosing support over time. See https://support.thesufferfest.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000910695-No-Ant-On-iOS "Why Now?"

I'm confused. When you say that iPhones don't support ANT+, I thought ANT+ was just a protocol that (usually) sits on top of Bluetooth. Surely, if you can find the device by Bluetooth (which you can do on iPhone no problem) then you simply need an ANT+ key to begin the talking to the device?

ANT+ defines data sent over the ANT wireless protocol for various different use cases (see https://www.thisisant.com/developer/ant-plus/ant-antplus-defined/). It is a 2.4 GHz protocol but is not the same as the Bluetooth protocol. A number of radios that support Bluetooth also support ANT, but not all. If the radio supports ANT it still has to be enabled and exposed by the system for use by applications.

Zigbee would be another example of a 2.4 GHz protocol that may be supported by radios supporting Bluetooth.

We tried this service, it seemed normal, but epiccarry with its more flexible pricing policy suited me better

I tried both of these services, and it seemed decent, but https://gamer-choice.com/ impressed me with its wider range of products, faster delivery times, and superior customer support.
