Cochrane, Alberta – October 28, 2015 – ANT Wireless, proven innovator in ultra low power (ULP) wireless technology, today announced that the ANT capable protocol stacks targeted exclusively for the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52 Series SoCs are now available for evaluation. The company will be licensing alpha releases of the S212 ANT SoftDevice and the S332 concurrent ANT/Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) SoftDevice.
With ANT, developers using the nRF52 benefit from the protocol's built-in highnode count connectivity solutions that are being used by an ever increasing number of ANT+ and ANT product developers both in the protocol's traditional market of sport and fitness, and the expanding Internet of Things segment.
The first alpha versions of the ANT stacks are compatible with the nRF52832 Engineering Revision A sample devices. Features of the ANT stacks include:
• Support for scalable ANT channels (up to 15 channels), all with selectable encryption.
• Configurable ANT transmit buffer size.
• Bluetooth functionality in the concurrent ANT/BLE S332 SoftDevice similar to that provided in Nordic’s first alpha release of the S132 SoftDevice
• The Bluetooth Smart compatibility offers three central + 1 peripheral connection, in addition to broadcaster and observer roles.
“We worked closely with Nordic to ensure the integrity and reliability of the stacks for the nRF52 Series,” said James Fujimoto, Director of ANT Wireless. “We are looking forward to seeing the innovations that the developer community will make with these new stacks.”
The new features provide increased flexibility for developers allowing them to create more complex applications addressing wider use cases.
Built around a 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M4F CPU with 512kB + 64kB RAM, Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52832 multiprotocol SoC offers record breaking performance to application developers with on-chip NFC™-A tag support.
The stacks can be downloaded for evaluation from the ANT website, here: www.thisisant.com/developer/components/nrf52832.
Alpha versions of the ANT stacks for the Engineering Revision B sample devices are expected to be available in November.
