PANEL DISCUSSION - EVOLVING THE ECOSYSTEM FOR CONNECTED EBIKE | DES YAP, DESFIT | KENNY CARLSON, GARMIN | JAN TALAVASEK, SPECIALIZED EUROPE GMBH
The ANT+ Alliance was created in part to address the technical challenges of the day for networking low-power wireless sensors to bicycle computers. Today’s ebikes have integrated drives and batteries, as well as electronic shifters, smart locks, smart lights, a multitude of sensors and connected displays, all networked together into a system that must be responsive and reliable. As the demands for wireless and wired networking for ebikes continue to grow, what role will standards and interoperability play to improve the usability of these solutions and help manufacturers achieve critical mass for wide-scale adoption? What areas are ripe for closer collaboration? Where are the industry’s greatest challenges?

BLUETOOTH MESH & ANT BLAZE: AN APPLICATION-BASED COMPARISON | HARRISON CHIN, ANT WIRELESS
Everything from lighting, to appliances to people are becoming interconnected, driving the need for efficient, distributed communications technologies such as mesh networks. Bluetooth Mesh and ANT Blaze are two solutions that address this need. Both technologies use the same radios and have similar protocol architectures, but it is not easy to quantify how they compare or how each actually performs in different situations.
Join this presentation to learn how underlying differences between Bluetooth Mesh and ANT Blaze make them suitable for different applications. Performance results from three real-world applications are presented using the same Nordic nRF52-based hardware and comparable test conditions.
